Beware of "Traditions"!

Since you call on a Father who judges each person’s work impartially, live out your time as foreigners here in “reverent fear”. For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from “the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors”, but with “the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect”.  (1 Peter 1:17&19)

Beware of “Traditions”!

The empty way of life Peter is talking about are “Traditions”!

The precious blood of Christ Peter is talking about is “Christianity”!

Always remember, “Christians are Foreigners” here on earth.

The “Earthlings Ways” are not “Our Ways”.

Therefore, beware of traditions.

Our Daily Nugget is Peter

telling the people and us that we should praise God for a “Living Hope”, Jesus.

Peter is also telling the people and us that we should

“Live Holy” due to this “Living Hope”.

Before Jesus,

people have traditions as their hope; this is the “Old Way”, before Christ.

Many religions came from these different traditions; many remain even today.

We must never allow traditions to be “our god”!

If traditions are “our god”, we will never be a “people of peace”.

Peter called our traditions an “empty way of life”.

Traditions are not guided by the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit does not consider our traditions important like we do.

Traditions are the “Old Way”, of the old creature.

Christianity is the “New Way”, of the New Creature, like Christ.

Traditions are not sin,

“unless”

they are more important to our heart/mind than God’s Word, from the Bible.

Peter instructs us to “Live Out Our New Way of Living” with “reverent fear”.  What is “reverent fear”?  It does not mean to be reverently “scared” of God.  In the Bible, to fear in this sense is “to hate what God hates and to Love what God Loves”.  Without our obedience to the Word, there is no Love. Jesus said if you “Love Me”, you will “Obey Me”.  Obeying traditions is not obeying the Bible; religions are traditions; religions are not Christianity.  Many will obey traditions and religions and still go to hell, because they did not obey the Word, the Bible.

Reverent – Profound respect and love.

Profound – To go deep into something, “serious focusing”.

Our Daily Nugget is Peter letting us know that; “Our Life Will Follow Our Focus”!

Focusing on the blood of Jesus and what this means to us will lead us to “live a life” that is pleasing and acceptable to Jesus.

“Now” we are “ready” to

Live Our Purpose, living our purpose leads us to look like Jesus to a dark world.

Living our traditions does not make us look like Jesus to a dark world.  Living our traditions make us look like a “good member of that organization”.

These organizations are of “manmade rules and regulations”.

Ask God to Bless

you with the Wisdom to make and to keep the Bible, over traditions, on the

“Throne of Your Thinking Process”, your “Heart/Mind”,

And Watch What Happens.
