Follow Your Heart!
The heart (mind) is “deceitful” ‘above all things’, and ‘desperately’ “wicked”: who can know it? ( Jeremiah 17:9)
Follow Your Heart!
The “Worst” Advice in the World!
Our Daily Nugget is making Two Main Points.
1. The heart/mind is deceitful and wicked, this is our fallen state.
2. “Who” can “know” this heart/mind? The Judge knows our heart/mind.
Deceitful – The “intentional” misleading of another. Lying is a form of this sin.
Desperately – Used to emphasize the “extreme degree” of something.
Wicked – “Thinking Of”, or “Thinking Up”, hurtful, harmful, bad things to do to
another person. Things you “would not want done to you”.
Evil – Living out, “doing”, the wicked things thought of to another person.
The “Truth” about us is, we are “bad”, we are “not good”.
The Bible tells us straight, “we are born in sin and shaped in iniquity”.
The Bible says that our best efforts are like filthy rags in God’s sight.
The Bible says that “on our own, we can-do no-good thing”.
Not one of us is “all that”; we all need Jesus.
The Good News is, “We Got Jesus”!
For your Sake and The Sake of your household, do not be a “Wicked Person”!
Repent!
There is a popular saying that goes like this, “Well, God Knows My Heart”. I heard a Pastor respond to that like this; “Yes, God knows your heart and that ought to scare the hell out of you”. God knows our “motives”, this is what He judges. No matter how deceitful and wicked we are, or how slick we think we are; we will never be able to slick, trick, nor mock God in any way.
Do not be surprised when people are deceitful and wicked!
Even people who attend Church regularly.
The Bible says most people are not going to repent from a sinful heart/mind.
We Cannot Love in our “Fallen State”; we can only Love “After we Repent”. We should not follow our heart/mind, because if we do, we will “not be able to Love our neighbor as we love ourselves. Even after we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, Love is not automatic. We must “keep our heart/mind ‘stayed’ on Jesus”. Satan tempted Jesus Himself, surely Satan will attempt to tempt Jesus’ brothers and sisters, you, and me. Jesus used the Word for protection, so must we.
Darkness and Light cannot occupy the same place at the same time.
Repentance from our natural fallen state will save us from this heart/mind that was born in sin and shaped in iniquity. Then Jesus sends His Holy Spirit, our Helper, to dwell in our “new heart/mind” and direct our paths, our living. The more we focus on Jesus and His Word, the better we will be able to “hear” and “obey” the Holy Spirit as He show us the way.
A ”Heart/Mind Felt ‘Desire’ to Please God” is what we bring to the table.
This desire is evidence that we have died to self and no longer
“Follow Our Hearts”.
