Confession.
Confession.
We can “Confess”, and we can “Tell”.
Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not “cover up my iniquity”. I said, “I will ‘confess’ my transgressions to the Lord”. And you forgave the guilt of my sin.
(Psalms 32:5)
God knows all our sins, even ones that we do not know.
“Telling” God about our sins is, just that, “Telling” God about our sins.
Our Daily Nugget
is letting us know that “forgiveness” from God is available when we “confess” our sins to God; “forgiveness” is not available when we “only tell” our sins to God. To confess our sin today, while “planning” on committing that sin again tomorrow is “Mocking God”, not “Confessing to God”. The Bible says, “God is not Mocked”.
To receive forgiveness of sins, mere “acknowledgement” of them is not enough. There “must be remorse”. There must also be “repentance”. (Seedbed)
Confession – The act of acknowledging one’s sins to God and asking for forgiveness.
Mock – To tease or laugh at someone in a contemptuous or scornful way. The Bible
condemns mockers as foolish, unrighteous, and arrogant.
Repentance – Is more than just telling God about our sin, it is a “commitment” to a
“new path and a new relationship with God”.
Each Kingdom Citizen, who “expects God to forgive us of our sins”, “must have” a heart/mind to stop doing that sin. Jesus “did not die for us to be able to sin as much as we like and just tell Him about our sin”, and to have Him say, Thank You for telling me about your sin, “now it’s okay to go forth and sin some more”.
If sincerity and truth does not precede confession, “it is not confession it is only telling”. Just telling God about our sins is not confession. If we do not get this right before we die, don’t be surprised at the judgement to hear God say, “Depart from Me you wicked person, I Never Knew You”! We cannot play God for a fool!
Ask God to Bless you with The Fear of the Lord.
This Fear is to Hate what God hates and to Love what God loves.
The Fear of the Lord leads us to True Confessions, with a Repented Heart/Mind.
A Spirit of Sincerity and Truth is what will lead us to Confession and Repentance.
