The Desire for Popularity Leads to Sin!
Then Saul said to Samuel, “I have sinned”, “I have violated the Lord’s Command and your instructions”. “I was afraid” of the men and so gave in to them. (1 Samuel 15:24)
But I will warn you whom to “fear”; fear Him who, after He has killed, has authority to cast into hell. (Luke 12:5)
We Will be Popular with “God or man”, Not Both.
Our Daily Nugget
is letting us know to “fear man” will lead to “disobedience to God’s Commands”. There is “No Fear in Love”. Fear has to do with failure and sin. Faith and Fear cannot walk together, Faith has to do with Victory, Fear has to do with Defeat.
King Saul had just won a big victory over their enemies; God had told King Saul to kill all the people and all the animals. The men wanted to keep some of the spoils for themselves and King Saul “feared” for his “popularity” and “gave in” to his men’s desire for stuff.
Our Desire for Popularity will lead us to Disobey God’s Commands.
To “Desire” to win the approval of man is to Reject God; for God has said, “Thou shall have no other ‘god’ before Me”. King Saul’s ”desire” that his men was “pleased with him” led him to do things that made God displeased with him.
This attitude and spirit of deception is “alive and active today”. Jesus said, that, “if they hated me, they will hate you”. Misery Loves Company. When we do like Jesus, the world will hate us, but, “God will Love us”. Don’t be concerned about “how the world will ‘look’ at you”; be concerned with “how God ‘looks’ at you”.
To Fear man over God, will cause us to “Lose Our Blessing!
Judas was popular with men; Judas was not popular With God. Judas placed his “focus” on “worldly treasures” and not on Jesus. Our Living will follow our “focus”. To keep our eyes focused on God and His Word is protection from the Demon of Popularity.
A Spirit of Humility is Protection
from the Demon of Fear and the Demon Popularity!
God rejected Saul as King!
